Why a dated record of Grok exists

Grok is no longer only a consumer product. Its parent completed the largest initial public offering in financial history on 12 June 2026, and the AI segment is central to that valuation — the prospectus itself names regulatory exposure around Grok as a risk to the business. That makes the questions this site answers harder to answer elsewhere. When a quota is reduced without an announcement, when a surface fails independently of the others, when a model stops being documented — those events are recorded here with a date, a source and an evidence level, and they stay recorded after the vendor's own pages have changed.

We hold the status feed and the plan limits in one database, which is why this site can say whether Grok was down or only throttled. As far as we can establish, no one else keeps that record.

How it works

A small set of public sources is polled on a schedule. When something changes — a new incident, a new version, a rewritten page — the change is stored with a timestamp and turned into a permanent page. Nothing is deleted when the upstream source rotates its history out; that archive is the point.

Summaries are written from structured facts (dates, durations, affected components, listed changes), never by copying source prose. Every page links to the source it was built from and states when it was last verified.
